Why Mini-Splits Fail In Marietta Homes
A ductless head has no ductwork between it and the room. Everything the room holds lands straight on its coil. In Marietta that means a long humid season working the drain pan. It also means dust settling on a blower wheel three feet from where you sleep. These systems run far more hours than the rooms around them.
So a mini-split rarely fails all at once. It drifts. The room takes longer to settle, and the air smells faintly of damp. Then one morning the head is blinking instead of running. Innovative Mechanical repairs ductless systems across Marietta, whoever put them in.
- 2 units, one system.Every ductless fault sits at the head, the outdoor unit, or the line between them.

Six Signs Your Mini-Split Is Struggling
A ductless system gives you more warning than a ducted one. The head sits in the room with you, so you hear it and you see it. In a cooling season this long, the early signs show up months before the failure does.
Some mini-splits are past the point where a repair is worth making. If yours is, you will hear that plainly, along with what the room needs instead. Explore our Ductless Mini-Split Installation services to see how a replacement gets sized.
The head runs but the room stays warm.
Usually the charge has dropped, or the coil has loaded up with dust. The head keeps blowing air it can no longer cool.
Water is running down the wall below the head.
That is condensate, and it should be leaving through a drain line. The drain is blocked, or the slope it needs has gone.
The air smells musty when the head starts up.
Moisture sits on the coil through a long humid season. A head that never dries out smells before it fails.
One head is down while the others run fine.
The fault is local, in that head or its branch, not the outdoor unit. That is usually the cheaper repair.
The outdoor unit runs nonstop and the room still drifts warm.
A long cooling season exposes charge loss fast. The system never gets the chance to catch up, so it stops trying.
A code is blinking on the head and it has shut down.
The system found its own fault and stopped itself. Note what the code is showing before you switch anything off.
What Decides A Mini-Split Repair Price
Two mini-split repairs almost never cost the same. The number follows what failed, and where it failed. A control board on the head is one job. A fan motor in the outdoor unit is another. A leak in a buried line set is a third. Parts availability on your brand moves the number as well.
So we look before we quote. A technician traces the fault to its source, shows you what was found, and puts the repair price in writing. You approve it before any part is ordered. If the repair is not worth making, that goes in writing too.
Two Very Different Mini-Split Repairs
One Head Down, Or The Whole System
A ductless system fails in two very different ways, and the difference matters to your bill. We would rather you knew which one you are looking at before anyone arrives. Nothing here is a reason to replace a system that can be repaired.
| What You Are Seeing | One Head Is Down | The Whole System Is Down |
|---|---|---|
| What it usually means | The fault is in that head, its branch, or its drain | Power, the outdoor unit, or the refrigerant circuit they share |
| What gets checked first | The coil, the blower wheel, the drain, and the head’s own board | The disconnect, the breaker, the compressor, and the charge |
| What the repair involves | One head cleaned, repaired, or swapped on its own | Work outside that brings every head back with it |
| What you lose meanwhile | The other rooms hold their settings normally | Nothing in the house is being conditioned |
| How it fools people | A shared line fault can take one head down first | A tripped breaker looks exactly like a dead compressor |
Most Mini-Split Faults Start Earlier
The Install Is Where It Usually Started
A ductless system that fails in year two is rarely worn out. Something was wrong when it went on the wall. Usually it is a connection that was never tight, a charge that was never right, or a drain without fall. We tell you which, and we correct it.
Refrigerant Gets Found, Not Topped Up
A system low on charge has lost it somewhere. Adding more buys you one season and hides the leak for the next technician. We pressure test, find where it is going, and tell you what closing it takes. Then you decide.
A Mini-Split Is Rarely Beyond Saving
Ductless systems get written off early, because fewer companies keep technicians trained on them. Before anyone talks about replacing yours, we check the board, the sensors, the coil, and the head itself. Replacement is something we recommend, never something we default to.
Your Mini-Split Repair, Diagnosis First
Four steps. The equipment questions come after the diagnosis, never before it.
- 1
Contact Us & We’ll Listen
Tell us which head stopped, what the lights are doing, and whether the outdoor unit is running. Those three answers rule out a great deal.
- 2
Professional Evaluation
The technician works both ends, the head in the room and the unit outside. Readings come off the refrigerant circuit, the drain, and the electrical side.
- 3
Honest Recommendations
The cause gets explained in words that make sense, and the price goes in writing. Where a repair is not worth making, you hear that too. Nothing is ordered without your approval.
- 4
Relax
We make the repair, then run the system and take readings at both ends before leaving. You hear what failed, why it failed, and what to watch next season.

Talk To A Mini-Split Expert
You Can See More Than You Think
A ducted system hides almost everything behind a wall. A ductless one does not. The head is in the room with you, and the outdoor unit is at your feet. Both of them are telling you something. You do not need the words for it.
What Is Worth Noticing
Notice which head stopped, whether the outdoor unit is spinning, and what the indicator light is doing. Water on the wall below the head matters as well.
When To Switch It Off
Shut the system down first if you see water running down the wall. Do the same for a burning smell, or ice on the line set. Then call us.
Six Counties, And The Same Crew
Marietta is home, and ductless calls go out to the five counties that ring it. A mini-split repair is not the kind of work we hand to whoever is closest. The crew that knows your system is the crew that comes back to it. Not sure your street is inside it? One call settles that.

Frequently Asked Questions
01Do you repair mini-splits you did not install?
Yes, and most of the ones we see were put in by somebody else. We do not treat that as a reason to start over. The system gets diagnosed on what it is doing now, and you get the same written price either way.
02One head is not working. Is the whole system bad?
Usually not. On a multi-zone system each head has its own branch, its own drain, and its own controls. A single head going down points at that head far more often than at the outdoor unit. The other rooms keeping their setting is a useful clue.
03Why is water dripping from the indoor head?
That is condensate, and it is supposed to leave through a drain line rather than down your wall. The line is blocked, or it has lost the fall it needs to run. In a humid season the pan fills faster, so a partial blockage shows up sooner.
04The remote is flashing a code. Does that tell you what is wrong?
It tells us where to start. Codes vary by manufacturer and they point at a system, not at a part. A code for the refrigerant circuit still leaves several causes on the table. Read it out when you call, because it shortens the visit.
05Can a mini-split just be recharged with refrigerant?
It can be, and it will cool again for a while. Refrigerant does not get used up, so a system that is low has lost it somewhere. Topping it up without finding the leak means paying for the same repair next summer. We find it first.
