Why Marietta Homes Add Mini-Splits
Marietta homes have been added to for decades. A garage becomes an office. An attic becomes a bedroom, and a back porch gets enclosed. The duct system was sized for the house as it was drawn, not as it stands now. The newest room is usually the one that pays for that.
Innovative Mechanical installs ductless mini-splits where a duct run cannot reach. The other case is a run that could reach, but only by starving the rooms around it. We measure first, tell you which of those two you are in, and size to the room.
- 0 feet of new ductwork.A mini-split conditions the room directly, so nothing overhead has to be rerouted.
- 3 inches. The wall opening a line set needs, against a full chase for a duct run.
- 1 thermostat per room. Each head holds its own setting, so one warm room stops setting the whole house.
- 100% NATE-certified technicians.Tested by the industry on the equipment that goes into your home.
Six Rooms Ductless Was Made For
A mini-split is not a fallback for a system that has failed. It is the right answer when the ductwork was never going to reach a space. A long Marietta cooling season makes that gap obvious by June.
Not every difficult room needs its own system. Where the ductwork has capacity and a route exists, extending it is the cheaper fix, and you will hear that from us. Explore our Ductwork & Indoor Air Quality services to see how that gets measured.
An addition went up without a duct run.
Tying it into the existing system now pulls air from every room already served. A dedicated head brings its own capacity, so nothing else in the house gives anything up.
The sunroom is unusable half the year.
Glass on three sides gains heat faster than any branch duct can remove it. A head sized for that load holds the room through a Marietta afternoon.
A finished basement feels damp rather than hot.
Below-grade rooms need moisture pulled out more than they need cold air. A dedicated head runs longer and gentler, which is how humidity leaves the room. That is the difference between cool and comfortable.
One person works from home in a spare room.
Cooling an entire floor to settle one office is the expensive way to do it. A single head conditions the room that is occupied, and leaves the rest alone.
A detached garage or workshop has no system.
A duct run out to a separate building almost never pays for itself. Ductless needs a line set and a power supply, and nothing else. It is one of the simplest cases we see.
A window unit is holding the room hostage.
It blocks the glass, runs loud, and cannot hold a steady temperature. A wall-mounted head does the same job quietly, gives the window back, and stays put all year.
What Goes Into A Mini-Split Estimate
The price follows the job rather than the box. Four things move the number. The first is how many rooms you are conditioning. The second is how far each head sits from the outdoor unit. After that comes the line set, whether it runs inside a wall or gets covered outside. Electrical work is the fourth.
So the visit comes first. We look at the rooms and trace the route the line set would take. Then you get the figure in writing, with the work itemized beside it. Nothing is ordered, and nothing starts, until you say so.
Extend The Ducts, Or Go Ductless
The Route Decides This, Not The Brochure
A mini-split is the more profitable of these two jobs, which is exactly why the measurement comes before the recommendation. Your current system may have capacity left, with a way to get a duct to the room. That is the answer you will get.
| What You Are Deciding | Extending The Ducted System | Fitting A Ductless Mini-Split |
|---|---|---|
| Whether a route exists | Needs a chase, an attic path, or a joist bay to carry the duct | Needs a three-inch opening in an exterior wall, and nothing more |
| What the current system can spare | Only works if it has capacity left to serve another room | Brings its own capacity, so the rooms already served lose nothing |
| How the room gets controlled | Shares a thermostat with everything else on that system | Holds its own setting, independent of the rest of the house |
| What the work disturbs | Ceilings, soffits, or closet space, depending on the path | One wall penetration and a line set run to the outdoor unit |
| Where each one falls down | A run so long that the air arrives warm anyway | A duct extension that would have done the same job for less |
Why Some Ductless Installs Last Longer
Where The Head Goes Is Decided First
An indoor head mounted for the installer’s convenience blows across a room instead of through it. You feel that every day for the next fifteen years. We work out where the air has to land and what the room gains heat from. The condensate route is settled then too.
Square Footage Alone Will Size It Wrong
Sizing on floor area alone makes a system short cycle. A system that short cycles cools the air without ever pulling the moisture out of it. We account for the glass, the insulation above the space, and what the room is used for before choosing capacity.
Three Connections Decide How Long It Lasts
Most of what fails on a ductless system traces back to joints nobody ever sees. We flare the line set and pressure test it, then insulate the full run. The condensate gets a fall that still drains in year ten. That is where the extra hours go.
How A Ductless Mini-Split Install Runs
Four steps, and the equipment is not chosen until step three. We install Trane and Lennox ductless systems, and our technicians service the other major brands already in homes here.
- 1
Contact Us & We’ll Listen
Describe the room that never behaves, what sits above it and below it, and how the space gets used. That decides how long the visit needs to be.
- 2
Professional Evaluation
One of our technicians looks at the room, the exterior wall, and the electrical supply. The route a line set could take is traced too. Capacity is calculated, never estimated.
- 3
Honest Recommendations
You see the options side by side, including the duct extension where that turns out cheaper. Each one is written down with what it involves and what it costs.
- 4
Relax
We fit the equipment, pressure test the line set, and commission the system. Then we walk you through the remote and the schedule. The commissioning readings are left with you.

Start With One Room, Not The Whole House
You Do Not Have To Solve Everything At Once
A ductless system can begin as a single head, in the room that bothers you most. Another head can be added later, when the addition goes up or the basement gets finished. We plan the outdoor unit with that in mind.
Worth Knowing Before We Arrive
The room’s rough dimensions, what sits directly above and below it, and whether the electrical panel has a spare breaker. None of it is required, and all of it saves time.
When A Mini-Split Should Wait
Your main system may be near the end of its life. Replacing that first can settle the room, and cost less overall. We will say so rather than sell twice.
Mini-Split Work Across Six Counties
Marietta is the middle of this, and the same crews take ductless work out across the five counties around it. A mini-split is planned work rather than a breakdown call. It can usually be scheduled for a week that suits the house. If your address sits out near a boundary, call before you plan around it.

Frequently Asked Questions
01Does a ductless mini-split heat as well as cool?
Yes. The same equipment reverses to bring heat into the room, which suits a climate with short winters. It runs on electricity alone, so no gas line is needed for the space it serves.
02How many indoor heads can one outdoor unit run?
That depends on the unit you choose. A single-zone system serves one room, and a multi-zone outdoor unit can carry several heads, each on its own setting. We size the outdoor unit around the rooms you want covered.
03Is a mini-split loud inside the room?
The noisy half of the system sits outside. The indoor head holds a fan and a coil. What you hear in the room is air movement, not a compressor. Placement still matters, which is why we work it out on site.
04Will a ductless system change what I spend on power?
It lets you condition one room instead of an entire floor, and that is where the difference usually shows up. We will not put a figure on it. Your usage, your insulation, and your current equipment all decide the outcome.
05Do you install mini-splits in detached garages and workshops?
Yes, provided the structure has an electrical supply that can carry it. A detached building is one of the clearest cases for ductless. Running duct out to it is rarely practical, and rarely worth the cost.
