Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to replace the indoor and outdoor units at the same time?
In most cases yes. The two halves are matched at the factory to work at a particular capacity and with a particular refrigerant, and pairing a new outdoor unit with an old indoor coil usually costs you efficiency, sometimes the manufacturer warranty, and occasionally the compressor. We will tell you if yours is one of the exceptions.
Do you replace the ductwork when you replace a system?
Only where the measurements say it is needed, and then only the part causing the problem. The airflow reading is part of every replacement estimate, and most houses need an adjustment rather than new ductwork. If yours needs nothing, that is what the estimate will say.
What happens to my old air conditioning equipment?
We take it with us. The refrigerant is recovered by an EPA 608 certified technician before anything is disconnected, as the law requires, and the old equipment leaves on our truck. Removal is written into the estimate rather than added afterwards.
How do you decide between a heat pump and an air conditioner with a furnace?
It comes down to what the house already has for heat, how the ductwork and the electrical supply are set up, and what you spend running it now. Winters here are short, which suits a heat pump in many homes, while a gas furnace still makes sense in others.
Is the manufacturer warranty separate from yours?
Yes, and they cover different things. The manufacturer warranty covers the equipment itself. Our lifetime craftsmanship warranty covers the installation for as long as you own the home, and repairs carry 1-year parts and labor plus a 30-day no-cost callback, both on the same repair issue or part.
